Midwest Hype started in Northwest IN in drummer Max’s father’s barn. Parties with Midwest Hype as the “house band” led to shows in the surrounding areas including Chicago and college towns where the boys attended their respective schools. They added their keyboards and horns while attending Ball State University.
The band cut EP’s in 2005 and 2006 leading up to the release of their first LP - Colorful Love - in 2008. They have toured to FL, GA, VA, OH, IL, MI, LA, and TX for SXSW. They have performed at several festivals including Head Jamz Music Fest, Summer Camp Music Fest, the Indianapolis 500, Green Music Fest, Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Fest, and North Coast Music Festival.
Along the way, Midwest Hype has had the opportunity to open for several great acts including: Cory Chisel, Papadosio, The Ragbirds, Trampled By Turtles, The Wailers, Umphree’s McGee, Rusted Root, and GIRL TALK.
Currently, the boys of Midwest Hype are very excited about their newest release - DAYGLOW - which was recorded in Chicago at Transient Studios by Steve Gillis and released on Jan 5th with a sold out show at Schuba’s in Chicago.
