It's been an exciting past few months for rising singer and songwriter Mikey Wax. Since releasing his self-titled album on Toucan Cove Records, the album entered the iTunes top 100 pop chart, and the first single "You Lift Me Up" has received over 8 million Spotify streams and was featured for three months in the Keeping Up With The Kardashians Season 10 promo commercial on E!. The second single, "Only One", received nation-wide radio airplay on SiriusXM's The Pulse. Mikey's latest track, "Love Always Wins (#LoveWins)", inspired by marriage equality, was featured in the promo commercial for the highly anticipated E! TV series "I Am Cait" starring Caitlyn Jenner. Mikey just headlined his first USA tour, after previously supporting tours with acts including Parachute, Matt Wertz, Jon McLaughlin, Howie Day, Ryan Cabrera, Tyler Hilton and Andy Grammer, to name a few. KSL.com says "Mikey Wax is one of the most promising rock/pop singer-songwriters out right now. He has some very genuine and organic music that is a fresh take on a tired pop music genre."
Tracing the steps back, Mikey began his journey in Oyster Bay, NY, where he started playing piano and writing songs at 8 years old. Inspired early on by the Beatles and Billy Joel, he quickly developed piano and songwriting chops. He attended college at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, honing his skills as both a singer and songwriter and independently releasing his debut album "Change Again". The album received a strong reaction on social media, with the music video for the single "In Case I Go Again" being featured on the YouTube homepage and receiving over half a million views. The success of the album introduced thousands of new fans to his music, including Superbowl MVP Aaron Rodgers, who has publicly mentioned that Mikey is a top artist on his playlist. "In Case I Go Again" was also featured during the 2012 Summer Olympics on NBC, and on the ABC Family hit show Pretty Little Liars.
His second album, titled "Constant Motion" debuted at #47 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The single "Counting On You" received radio airplay on Adult Top 40 stations across the U.S, and eventually made Mikey the only unsigned artist on the US Mediabase HOT A/C top-40 chart. "Counting On You" was featured weekly on the FOX hit reality TV series So You Think You Can Dance as the show's elimination song, and was also used in the movie trailer for the major motion picture Playing For Keeps.
Mikey has continued to develop a strong relationship with his fans online and in person. Users on the popular mobile music app Sing! Karaoke by Smule have been able to interact with Mikey's music by singing with him directly. These interactions have resulted in thousands of duets to his songs, as well as Mikey gaining over 160,000 fans on the app since joining just a few months ago. This grabbed the attention of RantLifeStyle, who featured Mikey as "1 of 15 musicians you've never heard of who deserve a grammy", calling him a "piano prodigy" and "social media phenomenon". Mikey now hosts over 700,000 fans combined on social media. On the touring front, Mikey also offers something very unique to his fans; exclusive house concerts right in their own living room.
