Miles and Karina

"Listening to a Miles and Karina album is like watching a great movie - a real cinema-of-the-mind experience. Listeners are taken on a journey to the past through the future. Fans of their music claim that M&K CD's are in constant rotation in their cars where listeners just sit back, careening, and let the miles roll by..."

Miles and Karina are David Miles Keenan and Nova Karina Devonie - a duo formed in 1996 after cowgirl supergroup Ranch Romance, which they were members of for 5 years, hung up their spurs. (3 albums on Sugar Hill Records)

Their music is influenced by recordings from the 40's, 50's and 60's and includes virtually all American styles except Rock.
Karina plays the piano accordion and glockenspiel and Miles plays guitar, banjo, fiddle and percussion on their 3 CD's and both of them sing.
M & K are excellent composer/songwriters having written all but 7 songs on their 4 CD's.

Their newest venture, "The Adventures of Prince Achmed Score" recording, (available only at CDbaby) is a 65 minute soundtrack to the film "The Adventures of Prince Achmed" - the oldest existing full-length animated film in the world created by 23 year old film maker Lotte Reiniger in 1926 using the Silhouette technique she invented. (all characters are made with paper and scissors!)
Three years in the making! No original German nitrate prints of the film are known to still exist. While the original film featured color tinting, prints available just prior to the restoration had all been in black and white. Working from surviving nitrate prints, German and British archivists restored the film in 1998/99 including reinstating the original tinted image.
M&K were commissioned by the Northwest Film Forum in 2007 to compose this score to be performed live at it's Children's Film Festival '08 and '09.
Since then, M&K have performed their score with the film in the US, Canada and Australia.

This score is available as a download only and is designed to replace the existing score for this film. Listeners will download the score to their music player, mute the DVD and start the music when they start the film at the beginning a-la Darkside of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz...

We hope to get permission to re-release the DVD with our score added in the future!
