Mireille Pruneau

Biography

mireille pruneau‘s chord progression

It is mostly on sunny Saturday mornings, after a second cup of coffee, that mireille pruneau starts strumming her beloved guitar and humming new tunes. It all began when, at the age of 13, she found her mother’s old guitar, made in La Patrie, in the attic of the family house. Right away, she took her first steps with the 5 open chords self taught out of a small yellow church book and played ‘Amazing Grace’ in E as her first song.

Eventually, while exploring different musical styles she ran into barre chords. Soon enough, she found herself singing words while playing. The songwriter’s adventure had begun. Her notebook was filling up with new songs while she gained scene experience in churches and small cafés.

Later on, she refined her guitar skills at Bishop’s University taking on board some jazz chords and really started to engage in her singer-songwriter path.

After recording a 3-song demo in 2007, she sent it to a contest to test the odds and, sure enough, she was selected as the first winner of Concours Boost Energie with RadioEnergie 106.1 in 2008. A few months later she took her chances on another one and, to her surprise, also won 1st place in the Singer/Songwriter category of Concours ProScène CKOY. Her music has been heard on CKOY 104.5, Radio NRJ 106.1, CJMQ 88.9, Mix 99.7, and on Passion FM 100.5. These last events are what pushed this 28 year-old folk-rock performer to release her debut album ‘On My Way’ in June 2009.

She spent the last 2 years sharing the songs from ‘On My Way’ on regional scenes and those of the surrounding areas. Meanwhile, mireille pruneau is still sipping on her coffee on sunny days, humming and strumming new songs for her upcoming album ‘A Little Closer’ available in Fall 2011.
