Biography of Livhuwani Ratshiungo, ‘Mizo Phyll’ Takalani Aubrey
Born Livhuwani Takalani Aubrey Ratshiungo on the 18th October 1986 in Shayandima, Venda in Limpopo. Mizo got his stage name from an element found in trees like chlorophyll which give plants the green colour i.e Mesophyll which he converted to Mizo Phyll. The humble soul Mizo started listen to Hip hop at a very tender age during the west coast and east coast era and he has been rapping ever since. He got his influence from musicians such Nas, Tupac, Colbert Mukwevho, Jay-Z, Mase, Bob Marley.....
His professional career started in 2007 with Madhouse Entertainment Owned by Tshilidzi Ramulondi also from Venda, where he did an unreleased album Mapubungwe. In 2008 he joined Musengavhadzimu to reload and release the album. It features the hit “Vimba” which still receives popular airplay. Also on the album is Tshikandeledzi, which got a Satma nomination for best hip hop in 2009.
Haven’t had signed any contract with former label (Musengavhadzimu), Mizo is now back at Mad-house. With a hectic performing schedule for him and stable mate Nicodermic, Mizo is working on a second album. “It was an agreement that i release one album with those guys and come back home” confirms Mizo. He is also featured on upcoming albums such as Percy Mukwevho, Dj Makleker, Jazz Duka Duka, Nicodermic just to mention but a few.
In the pipeline for this artist include opening a hip hop shop in Venda, television production and song writing.
