MOLLY BANCROFT
Molly Bancroft creates a soulful and hypnotic sound, mixing the energy of indie rock, with a strong pop sensibility and electronic influences that mesmerize the listener with catchy and immediately hummable melodies.
Over the years, from leading her rock band LIFT to her many collaborations and international hits in the dance music genre, Molly Bancroft has been compared to such vocalist/songwriters as Aimee Mann, Sarah McLachlan, Beth Orton and Chrissie Hynde. Stylistically, one can hear the influences of indie guitar bands like Radiohead, Death Cab for Cutie as well as the deep grooves of dance music styles from Madonna and Lily Allen. Already a #1 Billboard charting artist and known worldwide for her dance collaborations, Molly's own material is a combination of rock influences, solid melodies and big choruses, and those occasional dance beats.
As leader and guitarist in her band LIFT, she performed with Indigo Girls and many other Atlanta bands, touring nationally and receiving awards, such as Best Band in the Southeast, awarded by Discmaker’s in 1999. Lift released 3 critically acclaimed CDs including Daemon Records’ release “Lifelike,” in 1997 before Molly, decided to switch gears and focus on a solo career in 2000. As a solo performer, Molly regularly performed at Atlanta rock clubs such as Echo Lounge, Red Light Café, and Smith’s Olde Bar, performing with Marshall Crenshaw, Lori Carson, and other established national artists.
Molly is currently working on an album under the moniker Molly and the Delicate Beat, which she’ll release in early Spring 2010, with the first single coming out in January 2010. Fans of Imogen Heap, Sia and The Fray will love the songs and textures, and dance fans will love the beats and Molly's soaring voice.
Molly’s previous releases included “Red Dirt Diaries,” a 6-song indie/folk EP recorded on analog tape in Athens, Georgia in 2006, and critically acclaimed CD electro-pop effort “Get Closer,” that awarded her the Rockrgrl Magazine’s Grand Prize, in 2004. “Get Closer” was Molly’s first solo release, featuring Tim Smith (Sheryl Crow) on bass and Guy Strauss on drums. Both efforts were self-produced, and in working with some of the finest musicians and engineers, as well as top international DJs on several major club hits since that time, Molly has incorporated all these elements into her sound, resulting in an effortless, free-spirit musical adventure to share with listeners. After all, “it’s not about one genre” – Molly says – “it’s about great music that you’ll remember, that can affect your life and make sense to you.” Molly’s music has been played on many TV shows, including Nip/Tuck, MTV, NBC and CBS drama series, and in Coca Cola jingles.
An engaging and honest performer, Molly Bancroft will continue to bring a great vibe and memorable tunes to listeners all over the world.
