Biography

Monroe Quinn has been playing professionally since the age of thirteen. He studied for over ten years with jazz guitar great Remo Palmier. Since then he has performed with such artists as Billy Preston, Micky Dolenz of The Monkees, Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits, Neil Innes, Joey Mallond of Badfinger, and Denny Laine from Wings and The Moody Blues.


Monroe’s recording “I’ll Dream Of You” contains nine tracks, seven of which he composed. The CD has been played on 88.3FM WBGO and was chosen as one of the “highlights of the year” on their program, “Jazz From the Archives”.


Monroe is profiled in the book “The Jazz Guitar-It’s Evolution, Players, and Personalities Since 1900” written by Maurice J. Summerfield and published by Ashley Mark.


The Hal Leonard Corporation has published Monroe’s transcriptions of solos by Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane and others.


In addition to freelancing with numerous artists in the New York area, Monroe is also the lead guitarist and chief arranger for The Alan Quinn Orchestra.
