Who the fuck is Mxrcxl and why should we care?

Mxrcxl (pronounced Marcel) is an Alternative Metal act from Rotterdam, The Netherlands,
and is solely the creative vision of writer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Marcel Janssen.
Though it is not considered a band or traditional solo project per se, Mxrcxl can be
considered a solo act.

After releasing a 2 track demo named `Dump’ in 2012, on which Marcel played
all the instruments, he searched and found musicians to perform live with. Soon thereafter Mxrcxl
released the 4 track E.P. ‘A Laughing Matter`. It was recorded with band, and therefore
sounded more organic. It received excellent reviews from press and peers after its release in

An intense year of performing, including highlights such as the Baroeg Open Air Festival and
several support slots, followed.
With a new drummer and guitarist, Mxrcxl entered the studio in October 2014 and recorded
his debut album `In Alarm’

Mxrcxl about `In Alarm’:
`In Alarm’ for me is a very personal album, about a chaotic state of mind. Panic, if you will.
It’s dark, loud, lyrical, alternative metal, with strong melodies and hints towards pop.
Influenced by bands such as Dinosaur Jr., Jane’s Addiction, Faith No More and tons of more.

The Musicians:
Yoeri Traas – Drums
Jasper de Groot – Keys, Backing Vocals & Percussion
Tijmen Riede – Electric & Accoustic Guitars
