Myra began singing and performing at a very young age. She was in her first band at the age of 16. She performed for many years until she decided to put her singing career on hold to raise a family. Now years later with encouragement from her family, Myra is back onstage doing what she loves.
Myra performs at all types of venues: Texas dancehalls, opry’s, music festivals, fairs, private and corporate events, where she has had the privilege of opening for many Legendary recording artists, including the great Ray Price, whom had this to say about her, “I would like to introduce you to a very talented young lady whose star is rapidly rising. Hope everyone will consider giving this young lady your support!” Myra is extremely honored and thankful to Mr. Price for his support and states “I’m so honored to have been able to share the stage with one of country music’s greatest legends and will cherish the memories I’ve made forever.”
Myra is no stranger to the television camera and has 3 National televised appearances under her belt. In 2012 and 2014 she performed on The Shotgun Red Variety Show and followed up with an appearance on The Texas Picking Party. All three performances were aired on RFD TV and videos of Myra’s performances can be found on her website.
With 5 cds to her credit and no plans of slowing down, Myra continues to have much success with her traditional country music albums and always looks forward to sharing them with her fans. Her albums, This Is Forever, Tonight Darlin’, Hold That Thought and In His Light have all done well with radio and fans of traditional country music and garnished many accolades for her. Tonight Darlin’ her second release was nominated at the 2013 Academy of Western Artists Awards for Song of the Year with “A Bottle of Wine and Patsy Cline” and Myra was honored to recieve the AWA’s Female Vocalist of the Year Award. Her third album, Hold That Thought received a 5 Star review in April’s issue of Country Music People magazine and attributed to three more nominations the following year at the AWA Awards for Album of the Year, Female Vocalists of the Year and Song of the Year. Myra was honored that night to receive her second AWA Award for Song of the Year “Cant Hang Up the Phone”.
Along with award nominations, Myra has also had 4 of her songs released and each reached number #1 on the Indie World Chart through Pretty World Records. 3 of these singles, Hold That Thought, Cant Hang Up The Phone and Truth is Im a Liar, are all off the album Hold That Thought.
In late 2014, Myra released her fourth album. In His Light is a country gospel album and one Myra always wanted to do. Myra states, “I really wanted to do a project that would bring praise and honor to our Lord and give thanks back for all the blessings that He has bestowed upon me and share a little bit of my upbringing with my fans”. The album does just that with many of Myra’s favorite gospel hymns and songs from her heart. The album was added to the Canyon Creek Record Label and her first single “God Walks the Dark Hills” climbed all the way to number 12 in Cash Box Magazine and attributed to a nomination for Horizon Female Vocalists of the Year at the 2015 International Gospel Music’s Awards.
Most recently Myra has been working on her brand new album titled “Dancing Your Memory Away” with her dear friend and mentor Justin Trevino. Myra met Justin back in 2012 when she did and interview on his radio show “Pure Country Review” and the two have been great friends ever since. They work many shows together, most recently Justin had her as his special guest on “The Midnight Jamboree” in Nashville TN. ‘Im so thankful and honored each and every time I share the stage with this man, Justin is truly a blessing in my life. He has taught me so much about the music industry and helped developed my talents into being a better performer.”
Her 5th album, “Dancing Your Memory Away” is set to be released mid-September and is sure not to disappoint. The album includes some very special guests and dear friends Guyanne McCall Dannheim and Darrell and Mona McCall. Justin along with producing the album also sang on two duets with Myra. It is pure country through and through and Myra can’t wait to share this album with radio and fans everywhere.
Myra loves to perform and receives high praise from the crowds at each performance. Her attitude and charm make her a crowd pleaser. It’s hard to find a performer that enjoys each and every performance as much as Myra does. The sky’s the limit for this blue eyed Texas gal.
