Myra began singing and performing at a very young age. She was in her first band at the age of 16. She performed for many years until she decided to put her singing career on hold to raise a family. Now years later with encouragement from her family, Myra is back onstage doing what she loves.
Myra performs at all types of venues: music festivals, fairs, private and corporate events where she has had the privilege of opening for many Major Recording Artists, including the great Ray Price, whom had this to say about her, “I would like to introduce you to a very talented young lady whose star is rapidly rising. Hope everyone will consider giving this young lady your support!” Myra is vey honored and thankful to Mr. Price for his support.
In 2008, Myra recorded her first Classic Country cd at Gene Breden Studios in Nashville, TN. “This Is Forever” has proven to be a fan favorite.
In January, 2012 Myra kicked off the year with the filming of her first national television appearance. The Shotgun Red Variety Show was filmed on the General Jackson showboat in Nashville and aired on RFD TV. A video of Myra’s performance can be found on her website www.myrarolen.com
Her second national television appearance on “The Texas Picking Party” soon followed and included Myra’s beautiful rendition of “Ten Thousand Angels Cried”. It was filmed in May of 2012 and aired on the Rural Network, RFD’s sister channel. Her second album, “Tonight Darlin” is a compilation of original material written with a traditional country and western swing style. It was released in May of 2012 and received great reviews from Myra’s piers, radio and fans. The album has also been recognized by The Academy of Western Artists Organization where the album & artist received three nominations: Album of the Year, Top 5 finalist for Song of the Year, A Bottle of Wine & Patsy Cline & Top 5 finalist in Female Vocalist category. In February 2013, Myra was added to Pretty World Records Label. Her first single, “Walk Out Backwards” was released in late February and soared all the way up to #1 on the Indie World Charts. Her second single “Hold That Thought” was released in late 2013 and immediately came into the Indie World Charts at #47 after only four days out to radio. The song is rising hot and is holding strong at the number 5 position on the chart.
Currently she is in the studio finishing up her third traditional country music album, which includes her new single “Hold That Thought”. The album is true to the traditional country music sound and is pure country. Her single “Hold That Thought” is receiving a great response from radio and fans everywhere and the album is expected to do well.
2014 has proven to be a banner year for Myra. In January, she returned to Nashville where she recorded her third National Television appearance on The Shotgun Red Variety Show as a special guest. The show is set to air on Dish Networks RDF channel May 22, 2014.
Her album “Hold That Thought” is set for release in February of this year and is said to have many singles on it that will be released to radio. March 29th 2014, Myra will attend The Academy of Western Artists Awards, where she made the Top 5 finalists for Female Vocalists and Song of the Year, “A Bottle of Wine & Patsy Cline”. The album, “Tonight Darlin’” was also nominated for Album of the year. Myra is so humbled and honored to be nominated for these awards and included with such great artists.
Myra is also preparing to release her first Gospel album this year. The gospel album will include her rendition of “Ten Thousand Angels Cried” among many ole time favorites.
Myra loves to perform and receives high praise from the crowds at each performance. Her attitude and charm makes her a crowd pleaser. Its hard to find a performer the enjoys each and every performance as much as Myra does.
