Raised in France and in the United States, Natalie Azerad has always been
drawn to the melting pot of people, cultures, languages and sounds which
vibrate throughout the Southern California scene.
Natalie holds a Bachelors degree of Fine Arts (BFA) in Music from the
California Institute of the Arts where she was classically trained in
vocal performance. She loved being exposed to everything from classical
French Chanson to Jazz, blues, R&B, and world music. She has sought to
infuse all of the above to create her unique vocal sound. Her delightful
choice of songs are sung in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Natalie is the executive producer of her debut album, "Pourquoi". The
album is very eclectic in style and languages. It features an original
song entitled "Jolie Maman" which means "Beautiful Mom", written in memory
of Natalie's mother, Esther Azerad. Natalie has been collaborating with
producer, trombonist/pianist John Roberts. The album consists of a wide
array of genres from Jazz favorites mixed with French classics and
original songs. It features Natalie’s interpretations of works by her
personal influences such as Edith Piaff, Elis Regina and Billy Holiday.
Natalie participates in numerous musical collaborations and recording
session work. Her work includes voice overs as well as film and session
work. Natalie is presently featured in Southern California’s premier Pink
Floyd Tribute band, Which One’s Pink? (www.whichonespink.com). Since her
first appearance with the band on March 30, 2002, she consistently
overwhelms the crowds with her striking performance of the Floyd cult
favorite “Great Gig in the Sky”.
