I was born on a beautiful small island on the North Dalmatia, Adriatic Sea. Since I was a small kid, I started to sing in the church and take organ lessons from Sister Maria a nun. When I was 14, my mother bought me an old guitar for my Birthday. Just a year after a local band invited me to play on a restaurant terrace near the Sea on the Island of Mali Losinj where my family moved. It was a great experience despite the fact that our bandleader run away with all our pay money. Later while beginning High School I formed a band called OKUD AC. The school who was our sponsor wanted us to play free but we still had to buy our own instruments and equipment. I broke ties, went indipendent, change the name to OTOCANI (Islanders). This band had a great local career and lasted until just recently. Many good musicians played in the band. In 1972, I decided to immigrate to US. In New York, I joined the local band The Adriatics. It was a great band. We stay together until 1975. That year I joined the band KRISTALI. This was an excellent band with great potential. Despite the fact that this band traveled to many cities in USA and Canada, played with many Croatian recording musicians, always remained local. In the late 80’, the band split and some musicians went solo or in duo while I took a breather. In 1992 suffered an accident, injured my spinal cord and since then I use a wheelchair to go around. Despite all that after few years, I formed a new band called Tri Kantuna three Corners. This was also a band with great potentials but because of big differences in music tastes among members we split just after three years. At this time, I toggled with idea to release a CD with many Croatian folk songs in contemporary styles with no lyrics. This way an you did not have to be Croatian to dance along great folk music. In 2001, I released CROATIAN FOLK PARTY. Next year I released CROATIAN FOLK PARTY No.2. Both CD are selling well on all major sites.
I would like to hear from you. Do you need a MIDI or lyrics, have a question, need a band? My motto is “all free, all for fun”.
