Newropean Quartet

Besides working in the steady rhythm section for the great tenor saxophonist STEVE GROSSMAN since ’98 and leading his own trio, italian pianist DANILO MEMOLI has performed in the years with many great musicians on tour in Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Czech Republic, Greece...: among these players are New York soloists John Mosca, Eddie Henderson, Lew Tabackin, Jesse Davis, Vincent Herring, Jim Snidero, Bob Sands, DAVE SCHNITTER, Kurt Weiss and many italian names (Fabio Morgera, Pietro Tonolo, Roberto Rossi, Carlo Atti, Fabrizio Bosso, Piero Odorici and others). With his trio, MEMOLI recorded so far two cds: the first recording (1999, released in 2001) – is simply entitled "JAZZ" and features GROSSMAN and Mosca as guest stars on some tunes. It received many good reviews on the specialized magazines in Italy (Musica Jazz, Jazzit, Jazz Magazine, Zoing-Jazz, Jazzitalia). The second cd, "FELIEC" (2004, released in 2005) is exclusively in trio, and contains some recent compositions written by DANILO, and a few arrangements of standard tunes like Old Devil Moon, You & The Night & The Music, plus Solitude e Caravan from the Ellington repertoire. It also received very good reviews, and has been broadcasted on many european radios in Italy, Switzerland, Norway (NRK Rundt Midnatt), Belgium and France. Apart from other cds as a sideman, he recorded AMAPOLA with his recent NEWROPEAN QUARTET, co-lead with saxophonist Ralph Reichert, and in 2010 also recorded TOO MARVELLOUS FOR WORDS; with Reichert and Grossman (coming out Fall 2010). MEMOLI teaches Jazz Piano and Combo in North Italy as well as in workshops abroad.
