BIOGRAPHY
Niksa
I'm a Canadian guitarist/songwriter, and have been playing for the better part of 15 years. I grew up listening to Blue Oyster Cult, Deep Purple and many other classic rock groups from the 70's. My style of playing is more insightful than blistering, and I tend towards a melodic style of playing. I'm big into using technology to aide with music creation, and I've been strongly influenced by many electronic artists (Moby, Portishead, etc.,) to help me be more of aware of sound and mood creation. I also enjoy listening to later jazz and jam bands which help with my playing by forcing me to think outside of the pentatonic box.
My approach to songwriting may different than some, as I don't approach writing with a commercial point of view. My music tends toward narrative style, with a reckless abandonment of contemporary song structure. I'm not afraid to make an eight minute song, if the song serves a purpose.
I'm currently finishing off my first full-length album, Adagio for Data an Dials. This is a collection of ten songs which have been developed and redeveloped over the past few years. As the name of the album suggests, the music is a merge between an older and newer styles of playing. Emo Eddy is the first song that has been released as a single, with the rest to follow by the end of July.
