I grew up in small town north of Pittsburgh with an abundance of three things: classical piano, Aerosmith, & meatballs. My mother, a jazz pianist, taught me her secrets in the kitchen while my father was a rockin’ and rollin’ Harrison Ford look-alike and longtime player of the guitar, banjo, & mandolin. He was my biggest fan and musical influence. When I lost him to cancer at 17, I thought it was normal for Led Zeppelin to be played at the funeral. It is safe to say that no cooler person ever lived on this earth, not even Steven Tyler.
I joined a band at 19 and welcomed the transition from classical pianist to pop/rock keyboardist & vocalist. Since then, I have spent the last few years playing, singing, & collaborating with other artists, something I enjoy very much and hope to continue in the future. That being said, after being filled to the brim with the voice of others, I am excited to explore my own.
I had a very unique upbringing, performing and competing as a poised piano prodigy, then coming home to rock and roll. What I extracted from these two things is a great appreciation and love for melody in music. A melody that is simple and strong will resonate and be remembered. That is what I believe, and what I hope you come to believe as I write and share music of my own.
