BIOGRAPHY
John Pepion a.k.a. “Nomadic” is a professionally trained Indigenous American Blackfeet writer, MC, producer, public speaker, and visual artist, born and raised in Browning, Montana. Pepion is a graduate of both United Tribes Technical College, with his AAS degree in Art/Art Marketing (2004), and the Institute of American Indian Arts, graduating with his BS degree in Museum Studies in 2008. Beginning to write and freestyle as early as middle school, with a multiplicity of creative influences, as wide-ranging and diverse as West and East Coast rap luminaries like Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Tupac Shakur, Rappin 4tay, and Wu Tang Clan as well as lesser-known underground Indigenous hip hop artists such as Natay, Night Shield, and Supaman, Pepion has continued to advance and diversify as an Indigenous artist amid tremendous personal tragedy and hardship of every kind, persevering and establishing himself as a unique, passionate, versatile, and visionary MC, producer, and performer. Pepion recorded his first solo album in 2003 entitled Da Natural, a second EP entitled Lost Ones Vol.1 with his group Lost Ones in 2006, another Lost Ones LP in 2007 entitled The Unstoppable Mixtape, in 2008 he released his second solo album Relentless, and most recently released an album, a joint effort with rapper Melodic Soul, entitled True Reality in 2010; his newest third coming solo album, entitled Fearless, is slated for release in 2012. Dedicated to diverse collaborations and creative explorations of various kinds, Pepion has worked with talented MCs and performers such as one of his most significant mentors and creative influences Oakland MC/producer Btaka, Rollin’ Fox, Crystal Brown, Sir Majestik, Rez Inflicted, JSK, AZ Chief, G.E.N.O., Supaman, Night Shield, Maniac, Blest One, Mayla, Kiera, Smorg, Young G (RIP), Eva Jewell, and Melodic Soul, among others. Pepion, fiercely independent and believing in the ultimate power of hip hop’s ability to save lives, particularly Indigenous, the young talented artist has been featured in various media, inclusive of Indian Country Today, has performed widely across the U.S. since 2004, and has made it a point to record albums with primarily independent Indigenous producers and Indigenous-run record companies such as Strictly Native Entertainment, West Side Warrior Records, Native Organization Entertainment, Rez Attack Music, and True Pride Music, producing various tracks at Strictly Native Studios and the legendary Sykamore Shack in Phoenix, Arizona, and recording his latest album at 4th Avenue Studios in Great Falls, Montana..
