Northern Point

Biography

Since their formation in the summer of 2005 Northern Point hit the ground running and look to be going in the right direction. The band is comprised of singer-songwriter Chuck Clough, guitarist Shawn Murphy and drummer Richard Lee.

“Together these guys have found that they each posses an element crucial to their unique acoustic rock/progressive sound,” said Rich Mendez of The Aquarian. “Northern Point has solidified themselves as the ‘new band to watch.’”

The trio quickly began writing and rehearsing songs and took to the stage with ease. Northern Point has toured throughout the east coast making stops in Boston, New York and Philadelphia.

Their debut album November was released to strong reviews in the Fall of 2006. Following the release, the band toured for a year promoting the album, which include the songs Leaning Hard, I Am and, crowd favorite, She Won’t Wait. At the end of the tour Northern Point took some much needed time off to write and record their follow-up album.

The band reconvened at the Basement Studios in the fall of 2008 to begin work on the (as of yet untitled) album. Whereas November was recorded live to tape with minimal overdubs in about two weeks, a lot of the new material has been written and arranged in the studio and recorded in segments. While working in the studio, Northern Point felt their fans needed something new to listen to and released Live from St. James' Gate while they put the finishing touches on their next album due in the winter of 2010.
