Notebook Noise is delivering another top quality album with the latest release “Strange Tongue”. Their 3rd musical installment is stuffed full of well written rhymes, catchy choruses, beautiful melodies and infectious beats.
Front man Thaddeus James and production man John Gray have been working together for almost ten years. This new album is a strong crop and the guys are happy to have farmed and harvested it. John continues to arouse ears to new places with his stellar production and keen ability to draw Thaddeus out from comfort zones. John’s constant desire to ensure the growth of writing, delivery and musical content is evident and well displayed throughout the songs. Additional production work came from long time NN collaborator Asa Phelps. He created the foundation for this new project and provided the path needed for Thaddeus to explore new territories. The Strange Tongue art lives up to its name blending Notebook’s quirky vision of riding a giraffe with the classic texture and street art meets vintage style of graphic artist Joe Sampson.
The group has come a long way from Snares, Hooks and RhymeBooks, the debut that landed them on URB’s Next 1000 list back in 2008. The guys followed that up with 2009’s Debonair Wit, which earned them ‘leak of the week’ accolades from ThePier.org for the song “The Art of Throwing ft. Knowledgeborn07”. In February 2010 Notebook Noise started officially playing live and by October they had landed on WGN for a morning spot promoting the event Fashion Mash that took place at Double Door and Flat Iron Art Institute. 2011 was spent refining his live show and writing songs for the new album as well as recording features for several other Hip Hop projects. Notebook Noise has released the instrumental and acapella versions of their albums for mixtapes and remixes. So long as proper credit is cited, other emcees/producers/bands are free to use them.
