ONE
Original Soulful New Orleans ROCK!
In a town celebrated for jazz & blues…a uniquely
New Orleans ROCK band is born.
The tunes are original…and the sound--
a sweet blend of alternative & classic rock…
but ONE’s deep New Orleans roots shine through the vocals of lead singer,
Dave Newman and the strummin’ of lead guitarist Steve Staples.
The two native New Orleanians founded ONE in 1999.
ONE now features Sid Gearheart on drums,
and Jeffrey “Zack” Cardarelli on bass.
These 4 strong musicians create exciting music
guaranteed to please anyone with a pulse...and anybody who loves rock & roll!
What do the celebs say about ONE?
The Cajun Cannon Bobby Hebert,
“This is great rock & roll. When you hear ONE live, they bring back memories of those amazing concerts in the Warehouse. You gotta dance. You gotta sing. You gotta move.
These guys are big time.”
KAT of BAYOU 95.7,
“I’m the Rock Diva. When I say a band’s good, they’re good.
ONE is bad ass! And, Dave Newman’s voice—yummy! Check ‘em out, you’ll love ONE!”
WWL’s Big Cheif Deke Bellavia,
“Big Dave has one of the best voices I’ve heard in a long time. And what I like about ONE—its original music, solid rock. This band has soul. Two of my favorite songs are ‘Broken’ and ‘Let it Go.’”

ONE Bio's:
David Newman - Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards: Dave Newman is a home grown New Orleans talent. Dave picked up the guitar at age 12, wrote his first song “Lullaby” and a love affair began. Dave took up piano at age15. This opened up a whole new world, and he immediately began composing on the keyboard.
Dave studied guitar at Brother Martin High School and played in bands like “The Whiff & Poof’s” in 1978 and “Hostage” from 1979 to 1981.
Dave then studied Music Theory/Composition at the University of New Orleans from 1981 to 1983. During his time at UNO, Dave sang in the opera "Faust," and performed with the Theatre Department for kicks in plays such as “The Boom Boom Room.”
Dave packed up his equipment and moved to Los Angeles in 1983, when he began free lance studio work. Many projects were produced at Ground Control Studio in Santa Monica. Dave also composed the score for the science fiction film "R.O.T.O.R.”…a movie in which he had a small role, and was credited as an "associate producer.”
After leaving L.A. and returning to New Orleans, Dave spent many years composing songs and finding his “voice.” He also has a studio, where he produces commercial jingles, talent demo’s, and some independent label projects.
In the late 1990’s Dave met Stephen Staples and together they formed the New Orleans rock band, ONE. The band produced the self titled CD ONE. ONE also released their second CD “Who Dat Dream” in 2007. The title track “Who Dat Dream” is the open for every New Orleans Saints game day radio broadcast. ONE.2 is the band’s next CD; it’ll drop in 2009.
Dave is also working on his solo record, which will be released sometime in 2009.

Sid Gearhart - Drums: Originally from Western Iowa, Sid started his career at the tender age of 14 playing drums for Pick and the Tophatters. Early in his career, he played with various bands including Charon’s Ferry, who later formed the southern rock band Midnight Flyer, earning fans and acclaim throughout the Midwest before venturing south to New Orleans and becoming Night on the Town. In 1979, Sid joined the blues band, Joss, shaking the stage with Albert King, Etta James, and opening for B.B. King and the Pointer Sisters, before later joining the Clique and then the progressive and
controversial New Orleans sensation Sweet Revenge in the 90’s. This craftsman, inventor, Renaissance thespian and seasonal pirate joined One in 2001, becoming the percussive drive behind the band’s tireless creative efforts, and continuing independent projects in and around Southern Louisiana, including session work for various artists.
Jeffrey “Zack” Cardarelli - Bass: Zack is as New Orleans as hot sauce. His music career is long and varied. He has played with such New Orleans based bands as: “Gulf Stream,” “Atlantis,” “Reel to Real” (where he met Stephen Staples years ago), and “The Charmaine Neville Band,” in which he played for 20 years. Zack still can be seen occasionally playing with “J.D. & The Jammers.” Zack is a great all around bass player, who has played along side such names as Steven Stiles, Shannon Powell, Reggie Houston, Russel Baptiste, Raymond Weber, and many more. He can even be heard on some recordings with world famous blues man Earl King.
Now playing with ONE, Zack has found a new home for his low end creative thumpings.
