Oshiego is a death metal unit from Singapore that was conceived in 2004. The current line-up of Oshiego consists of Umar Khan (vocals), Abdulkadir Alsagoff (guitars and backup vocals), Bryan Gan (guitars), Ridhuan Syah (bass) and Fauzt (drums).
Oshiego takes heavy musical influences from notable bands such as Grave, Behemoth, Nile, Blood Red Throne, Vomitory, Melechesh, as well as incorporating Middle Eastern touches into their songs. Lyrically-driven by subjects involving war, the inevitable struggles of life and vampirism (in accordance to The Legacy Of Kain), Oshiego is determined to thrash and destroy.
“They have good compositions, their musicians are good (really), their music is accessible without being commercial... it's tiptop. If you like brutal music or if you just like melodic aspects in Death Metal, remember this name my friends, Oshiego is for sure a good newcomer,” Jeff from Metal Storm (Europe).
“Fuck me if I can't figure out why someone hasn't signed these guys…” Ryan Sparks, Sea Of Tranquility
“This band brings it hard and doesn't let up at all. Watch out for them, they will be making some waves if this album (Woe To The Conquered) is any indication,” Scott Ward, Sea Of Tranquility
“The band plays tight and in-your-face. The songwriting is mature and the five-piece understands how to use lots of different features to make the songs interesting. In general the riffs are catchy and there are many good parts. The songs are diverse and have the needed changes and stops.” SPL, Supreme Brutality (Denmark)
“… sounds like a mix between (early) Cannibal Corpse and Obituary and thrash metal bands such Megadeth, Kreator and Sodom. There's a thrash vibe to most of the riffs and the leads/solos are truly sensational while Oshiego keeps the groove always intact.” – Masterful Maga ‘zine (Poland)
“Unending Carnage is a powerful and brutal bet of these four authentic savages rising from the darkest and putrid sewage of the ancient English colony…” – Demonio, Castle Of Vampiria (Spain)
The band is currently looking for a suitable label to release future full-lengths and is still active in playing shows. Oshiego is contactable through facebook.com, myspace.com, reverbnation.com and through e-mail (email@example.com) for label/show offers. Oshiego will not rest and will rise to decapitate the naysayers in their time of triumph.
