Paddyman

Biography

Paddyman is a very talented Irish singer / songwriter called Declan O'Sullivan from Co. Kildare! He has been playing music in the pubs of Ireland and around the world for over 20 years.

In early 2012 he released two debut albums at the same time. This was to reflect the two sides of his music:

1. Traditional irish and Celtic songs that people love to sing in the pubs (Savage Irish Drinking Songs)
2. Funny Songs (for a live audience) that are a mix of parody, sarcasm and sexual innuendo (Who's Your Paddy)

Both albums are distinct in their themes but both reflect Declan's versatility and musical ability. For example, he plays near all the instruments on the CD's - Guitar, Bass, Keyboards, bodhran, Drums, harmonica. He even quickly learned the banjo when he heard the banjo player he'd booked for "Big strong man" couldn't come. He simply felt it was important to have banjo in that song as it was Seamus' (his son) favorite. Declan had only four days to record the whole album at a studio in the Wicklow Mountains so most songs were recorded first time through. The studio recording was between drinking / playing at the fleadh Ceoil in Cavan one weekend and a gig with his Dad in Kerry the next, so he asked his Dad to play accordion on some of the tracks before they headed off - which he did - in one take! The very talented Irish Fiddle and tin whistle player - Mikey O'Shea - can also be heard adding some extra energy on some of the tunes.

Paddyman is currently living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates which inspired his acclaimed song "Paddy Goes to Dubai". Given his tongue and cheek views and highly entertaining live shows it is not surprising that Paddyman has been described by Western media and venues in the region as "a very welcome breath of fresh Celtic air" and "a cheeky fecker with a great Irish sense of humor!"

All the songs on his CD "Who's Your Paddy" are labelled explicit, so best not put that one on in front of the kids! The Anti Gaddafi Song he wrote was nominated for the Freedom to Create Prize and his versions of "Did you ever get a ride", "Horse and Camel Outside" and "The Chicken Song" would make any Irishman have a good laugh!

"Savage Irish Drinking Songs" is a perfect CD for those who enjoy singing along with real Irish songs that can be heard in any good Irish pub. And since the Irish and Scottish get on so well, Declan added a lovely Scottish song "Caledonia" (meaning Scotland) which is also loved in Ireland and often requested in Irish Pub sessions. There is one original song on this CD. It is called Lost at Sea and was written by Declan's friend Damien Byrne, whose uncle was Lost at Sea off the Donegal Coast.

This is only the start of great songs to come from the Paddyman!
