Pale Fragments is a collaboration project between bassist and electronic producer Marcus Chadwick and guitarist and singer/songwriter Paul Walmsley
The duo started off recording a one off track called damage and had such a blast in the studio experimenting with sounds that it soon lead to an albums worth of material.
The approach of Pale Fragments is to capture a moment. Rather than focusing on high production values they celebrated happy accidents and magical moments that come from letting parts evolve and happen naturally. Parts were stumbled upon by random coincidence with a splash of musical telepathy due to the two artists having no limitations with genre and sound.
Constellation Station is the debut album from Pale Fragments
The Album opens with an upbeat, yet bitter/sweet sound which sets the scene for the increasing wave of instrumentation and weaving vocal harmony before breaking into moments of hypnotic and haunting ambience.
The Album was recorded with a mix of modern equipment and classic vintage gear in a hazy time within the heart of winter.
Constellation Station has a very spontaneous feel due to a lot of first take moments and off the wall recording techniques, one song even has the sound of a "fisherman's friend" lozenge dropping into a toilet during a vocal take. odd but true.
The lineup is as follows:
Paul Walmsley, Vocals, Guitars, Keys
Marcus Chadwick Vocals, Bass, Guitars, Keys Percusion
Tony Bentley features on live drum parts
Both originally from the north of England they played in many bands before working together. Now Marcus lives in Spain and Paul in Lancaster, but they plan to write and release new material this year.
