Panayota Haloulakou sings Greek, jazz, and experimental music. She
has collaborated with Steve Lacy, Irene Aebi, Sheila Jordan, Joe Lovano,
and Greek singer George Dalaras, among many others. She currently leads
her Jazz Quartet, her Jazz Septet performing her original compositions
based on poetry, and the Greek Rebetiko group 'Syn-Aulois.'
Panayota has two albums: "Standards" (Duo with Lefteris Kordis) and "Barely
Real: Music of Panayota Haloulakou" (Septet). "Lakonikon: Selected poems
by Odysseus Elytis" is her next project featuring her original music based on Elytis's poetry,
ςηιψη is scheduled to be recorded and released in 2012. She has studied voice
with Mary Klimek, composition with Frank Carlberg, and improvisation with
John McNeil and Hankus Netsky, among many others. Panayota is a Fulbright scholar
and holds a Master¹s degree in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory.
