Parry Adams

Biography

When Parry Adams struts to her piano, the petite redhead holds the same playful demeanor that she had minutes before in the crowd. Her raw attitude translates across all aspects of Adams, allowing this strong common-thread to sew together some of the most authentic music in the indie scene.

Adams' rich voice punches through her “no bells-and-whistles” approach, commanding attention with a soft strength. Her unrelenting melodies, complemented by soulful piano, chipper guitar arrangements, and honest lyrics showcase the ordinary in an extraordinary light. With raw honesty, Adams won’t always tell you what you want to hear, but you'll want to hear the sincerity pulsing throughout her music.

Staying true to her Welsh roots, with Wales dubbed as "the land of song," the Pittsburgh native started singing at a young age. She went on to study musical theater at Point Park College. After graduation and working in King's Island theme park outside Cincinnati, the once soft soprano explored her voice, transitioning into a powerhouse belter. Hungry for full artistic control over her own music, Adams expanded her skills as a musician, learning to play guitar and piano. She soon moved to New York to open the curtain on her solo career, leaving her musical theater performance days in the rearview. Cultivating her vocal abilities combined with the development of a musical mindset through guitar and piano skills has led to the release of Adams' first EP Puzzle Piece, slated for July 5, 2011. The album includes a string quartet, and features Thad Debrock (guitars), Doug Yowell (drums/percussion), and Jason Cummings (bass). It was recorded at The Cutting Room Studios & produced by Jason Cummings in the winter of 2010/2011.

"Puzzle Piece is a reflection of where I stand," says Adams. "There is nothing holding me back, and the big picture is coming together."

This summer, Adams can be seen performing at various venues in New York City.
