Born in East Sheen, London 1975 Paul Hughes started playing
Classical music after a Spanish student "Frank" living for a short
time at his parents played "Moonlight Sonata" on their new piano.
From that moment on a personal passion was awakened.
Having Herbert Hughes, the Irish Folk arranger on the Irish side of
the family and Julius Harrison for a Great Grandfather means that
Music is in Paul's blood.
Paul's Dad, Paddy Hughes was very
encouraging of Paul's talent; supporting him with Trumpet and Piano
lessons, often taking him to various Classical performances from a
very young age and into his early teens.
Later Paul solely focused his attention to Piano.
After the death of a close friend life turned another corner as it so often does.
Through this tragedy there arose an opportunity to join a mutual
friend's band and start playing keyboards.
Paul had never felt comfortable during school and college days but
now there was an open door into a world that truly excited and
terrified him all at the same time. Music now seemed like a
plausible way forward and a way of expressing himself as never
This started an affair with the rock`n`roll lifestyle which ended in
a messy divorce and after a personal battle with illness Paul has
come full circle and re-engaged his love for classical music.
Meeting caroline and then the addition of little rosie then proved
to be the catylyst not just for the album but also for the artwork
that makes up the whole package.
None of this music could have come to this point without the help of
his friend Stephen thomas clarke who runs FractalSoup Studio where
the album and single were produced.
In Paul's own words:
" This album is only possible due to the re-establishing of
relationships, formation of friendships, meeting a soul mate and the
emergence of new life into my world. I am truly blessed. I’ve been
given a chance and taken the opportunity to heal. Life hasn’t
always been smooth but I’ve muddled through somehow.
My family are the most important part of my life. I love you
Caroline and Rosie. You are the greatest gifts I could have dreamed
of and the inspiration behind this work of art. Lullaby started as
a way of saying hello and bonding with Rosie during pregnancy and It
acted as a catalyst for all that came afterwards.
Thank you Mum and Dad for your patience, and to my family for
sticking around. I love you. Also I would like to express my
appreciation to the many other friends and faces who have travelled
down this road with me. These experiences have come together to make
me who I am today.
Thank you to Stephen Thomas Clarke. This album is a reflection of
what we have both achieved and how we have helped each other re-
discover our passion for music. Rock on!
To all those past and present and those no longer with us, a big
thank you. You`ve all had a role in this creation.
Enjoy XxX "
