Paul Valek is a singer, songwriter, musician with Illinois roots who has performed professionally and as a benefit artist in many venues. He is primarily a solo performer but has also been a member of several bands performing in Chicago area venues, the Illinois State Fair in Springfield as well as numerous community celebrations and intimate settings in lounges, restaurants and coffee shops from Illinois to Oregon.
With a deep love of music, Paul embraced performing as a teenager by forming a band with some friends. From that point forward Paul's quest has been to use his music to convey the myriad thoughts he has about the mystery that is life.
As happens to so many of us, Paul's primary focus shifted when he had children. Considering that the difference between a musician and a large pizza is that the pizza can feed a family of four, he chose to concentrate on getting an education to better support his. The songs kept coming. He played music almost daily even though he didn't often make any money that way. Throughout the years his catalog of songs grew. Eventually, he studied recording and made a studio in his home so that he could create the layers of sound heard in his heart.
This is powerful music with a lyrical message that creates an up-lifting/hopeful mood. Often dreamy and magical it is music for the heart. More significantly, his lyrics have a spiritual quality. They are strongly inspirational without being religious. These are melodic, memorable songs people can connect with and carry in their hearts throughout each day.
Paul’s music encompasses many different styles, mainly contemporary singer/songwriter/folk rock/alternative rock. Some of his songs could be considered close to folk, roots or country. Paul’s lyrics are positive, insightful and at times humorous. Although Paul has been told his sound is reminiscent of Dan Fogelberg, Jackson Browne, Paul Simon, John Lennon and the Moody Blues, it is, of course, a sound and perspective unique to him.
His first album, "Each Day With You”, was released in 2013. In addition to composing and recording it himself, he performed all vocals and played most instruments on it. Let him share a bit of each day with the you through his music.
