Prema Akasha’s music and poetry is rooted in a life-long love of Love itself, with influences from a variety of spiritual traditions including Hindu, Buddhist, Sufi, and Christian traditions.
Her songs, chants, rhymes, and raps inspire, entertain, and honor the silent depths of our true nature. But be forewarned… Prema’s alter-self, “The Premanator," is always lurking just around the corner, poised to annihilate your mind with her nondual wisdom rap!
Prema’s spirit-inspired work has also included visual arts, design, writing, and teaching. In the early 90’s while earning her Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology, she discovered that it is indeed possible to give expression to the inexpressible beauty, love, and truth of Spirit. A few years later she experienced a far-reaching insight into the nature of consciousness, and since then has dedicated her life to the awakening and expression of Spirit — in herself and others.
For over ten years, she has served as the Musical and Creative Director of Open Gate Sangha, an organization that supports the flowering of consciousness through the Zen-inspired teachings of Adyashanti and Mukti. And more recently, she founded DharmaTunes as a way to support a larger community of truth lovers, musicians, and teachers, through the inspiration of music and the spoken word.
Prema is currently focusing her creative energies on an active concert schedule with Amitabhan (ww.amitabhan.com) and in developing DharmaTunes so that it can more fully support the community.
“Prema’s diverse expressions of music and poetry evoke a sense of playfulness and joy coupled with the holding of an incredibly sacred space.”
