Pymlico is an instrumental band from Oslo, Norway. Their music is a mix of progressive rock, fusion, world-, ambient-, film- and pop music. They have a melodic, complex and dynamic sound with layers of keyboards and guitars. Pymlico’s quest is to prove that music in 2015 does not have to be fronted by a singer and that instrumental music is not something obscure from the 1970s.
Pymlico started out as drummer and composer Arild Brøter’s solo project back in 2009. This has so far led to three album releases: Inspirations (2011), Directions (2012) and Guiding Light (2014). The last two recieved positive feedback and favorable reviews in the international progrock society. On the albums, Arild invited several different musicians, but he also gathered a live band to do concerts. Over the last couple of years, the live band has played at Artrock in the City Park in Lidköping, Sweden, done support for the Italian band The Watch, played at progrock-festivals in Norway and arranged several successful concerts on their own.
This made the live band a very strong unit, both musically and socially, so it was decided to make this a regular band. The Studio Live-project is the first recording with the newly formed band Pymlico, but it will not be the last. The recording of what will be the fourth Pymlico-album with original music will start during the second half of 2015. This year will also see several concerts, as the band will play with fellow Norwegian bands, such as Panzerpappa, Adventure and The Windmill.
All albums are sold through CD-baby, iTunes and Amazon and can be streamed on Spotify.
