Q-York: Quality – Yields Our Richest Key
Q-York stands for “Quality – Yields Our Richest Key” and also Queens, New York where the group was founded in 2001. The super duo music group consists of KNOWA LAZARUS (MC / Songwriter) and FLAVA MATIKZ (Producer / DJ). Both born and raised in Queens, New York, they are brothers from different mothers whose bond was forged through the music in their souls. They visited the Philippines in 2007, and fell in love instantly. By discovering their roots they also found the purpose and inspiration they were subconsciously seeking their whole lives. They exploded on the Philippine Music Scene in 2009 with their hit single “Mainit” which became a summer anthem for Pilipino’s worldwide.
Q-York’s relentless drive, versatility and god-given talents have allowed them to travel the world and collaborate and produce for with international and local celebrities such as: Ron Artest, Philippine Allstars, Far East Movement, Canibus, Camile Velasco, Nature (Formerly of the FIRM), Quest, Gloc-9, Chelo A. JayR, Young JV, Paloma Esmeria, Krista Kleiner & Joan Almedilla (US Broadway Star) just to name a few. Q-York’s music is an all-you-can-eat buffet of style and sound that entertains and educates, which is why they label their brand of music “Edutainment”.
In addition to making great music, Q-York uplifts, inspires and entertains with dynamic and energetic performances. They have rocked stages with the best of them including: front act for the PussyCat Dolls Live in Manila Concert in 2009, APEC after party in Singapore November 2009, front act for Shock Value Tour in Manila with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and JoJo, front act for the Supafest Concert featuring Sean Kingston, Kelly Rowland, T-Pain and Flo Rida, Top selected performers of the 7101Music Nation Camp November 2010 with Gary V., Rico Blanco, Jim Paredes, Jay Durias, Jungee Marcelo, Gary Grenada.
