RAW

Biography

Thunderous, hook laden west coast riffs and high octane 3 part harmonies were what set RAW apart from every other group in the music industry in their day. Formed In 1994, Roger Mowat (lead vocal/guitar), Archie Ian (drums/vocals) and Alan Mackenzie, (bass/vocals) knew right from the beginning that they were about to embark on a journey unlike anything they have ever been involved with. RAW has toured and supported bands such as Nickelback, D.O.A., Shocore, Nazareth, Trooper, Noise Therapy, Flybanger, Vader, Sweet Noise, Killing Joke and many others, as well as headlined selected larger venues. Their animated performances captivated audiences of all ages and led the group to the attention of major concert performers and music festival organizers. In 2003 and 2004 RAW was invited to perform in front of 400,000 fans in Zary and again Kostrzyn, Poland at Przystanek Woodstock. Also, with stops in Amsterdam, Berlin, Warsaw, as well as shows on the Russian and Czek borders were they gave the people a taste of rock culture, west coast style. RAW has released 4 independent albums Mother Playing Field (1997) RAW 3.14 e.p. (1999) Asleep at the Wheel (2003) & the "Warsaw EP" (2006) were all received with positive feedback from radio to major labels. The Vancouver-based band also played as an all-star backing band for many up-and-coming artists as well as some established artists such as Krzystof Jaryczewski of polish super group Oddzial Zamkniety. Though RAW has been on indefinite hiatus since 2008, they continue to work together and individually in various musical endevours.
