RADIO ORANGE
In short
RADIO ORANGE produced their album MIND READER after gathering $ 50.000 on Sellaband. 14 songs based on a new sound concept: combining traditional songwriting with a dance beat approach and enhancing the lead vocals with layers of rich vocal harmonies.
A little bit more
RADIO ORANGE is a group of musicians from the Netherlands who teamed up after their former bands I Spy and Weekend At Waikiki ended to exist in the Nineties. Both these bands toured the Dutch and European club scène intensively during the Eighties and made a handful of albums which gained much critical acclaim and led to airplay and (live) performances on Dutch national Radio and TV-shows. In those days both bands were influenced by the new wave sound of the Eighties (Japan, Devo, Talking Heads, Duran Duran & U2 for example) and great masters of the Seventies like David Bowie, Bryan Ferry and Peter Gabriel.
MIND READER – THE ALBUM
The last two years RADIO ORANGE worked on their debut album MIND READER after gathering a budget of $ 50.000 on Sellaband for recording this album. At that moment a total of 15 songs were already written and recorded in their own studio Spitsbergen; all these songs were posted on the Sellaband website to listen to and help to reach the $ 50.000 recording budget. More than obvious would be to finish off production of these 15 songs and release an album. RADIO ORANGE however decided to start from scratch with composing and writing new songs based on a new sound concept: combining traditional songwriting with a dance beat approach and enhancing the lead vocals with layers of rich vocal harmonies.
MIND READER – THE SONGS
Although captured in a different sound concept the songs on MIND READER all deal with themes like hope & despair, love & faith, justice & truth in their own manner. There is no underlying concept in the lyrics, but with some imagination and creativity everyone should be able to make their own translation in terms of moods and memories. Read the minds of RADIO ORANGE when they wrote the songs. A journey of discovery captured in the album cover art design; a collage of mind maps of the individual members of RADIO ORANGE. This journey actually should be done through a looking glass.
RADIO ORANGE - STAY TUNED!!
