Randy America is a musician, actor, and songwriter with a career spanning back to the late 1980’s. Randy has appeared on radio, television, and in the movies, but the bulk of his career has been spent as the lead singer and guitarist for Delaware punk rock legends Jake & The Stiffs.
Randy was born and raised in Champion, Ohio, leaving there at the Age of 13 for Farmington Hills, Michigan. He moved to the city of Detroit during the end of his senior year in High School where he lived in a band house with some great musicians from the Detroit area, among them, Matthew Ruffino (Detroit Cosmic Banditos, Sinclair and many others, also a guitar understudy to Megadeth in 1988), Scott Goldstein ( Jake & the Stiffs, Beer Whores, Chinese Dragons, many others, currently in Detroit 442), Jason “Jake” Loch ( Jake & the Stiffs, Beer Whores, Cold as Life and many others). So many local musicians stayed there at one point or another, the list is too long to recall.
Randy moved to Pike Creek, Delaware in 1991, where he met up with Local musicians Zach Hansen (Jake & the Stiffs, Spindrift) and Steve Funk and revived the Jake & The Stiffs lineup that had begun in Detroit only a few years earlier. After Steve departed in 1993, local Delaware Valley legend Vince Kilpatrick AKA Algy Siouxicide joined up and he and Randy played together in Jake & the Stiffs through various lineup and member changes for the next 19 years as well as several other projects including The First State Thrill Killers, and Walk Among Us. Jake & the Stiffs were a variable who's who of local talent from the Delaware Valley among the many members at one time or another were Matt Yonker (The Queers, Ben Weasel, The Methadones, currently Less Than Jake), Don Yonker ( The Halfings, The Rumblers, currently Tonight We Strike) , Sean Rule (Plow United), Bill Kate (Explosive Kate, Saturday night Kids), Steve Attig (Britny Fox), and several others.
Randy has just recently resurfaced with a CD called FUCK VISION which was written and recorded in his home studio from 12/2011-4/2012 and is now putting together an all-star local lineup consisting of members from the Wilmington, DE. band, The Keefs. The lineup will consist of Randy America (lead vox, guitar) Vince Kilpatrick (bass, vox), Dave Janney (guitar vox), 2 N Kenn Koubek (Drums, vox) and George Murphy (guitar, vox). The group will be known as Randy America & The Pike Creek Pinups.
