Randy Simon Jazz Project

Biography

The Randy Simon Jazz Project brings together talented jazz performers from New York's Capital Region to record the tunes and instrumental arrangements of Randy Simon. Randy is a scientist and businessman living in upstate New York who moonlights as a jazz composer. After decades of avidly listening to jazz and several years of studying jazz theory, he took up composing for jazz ensemble and has been exploring the styles and flavors of contemporary jazz ever since. The result has been an ongoing series of recordings documenting Randy's development as a composer, arranger and music producer. RSJP CDs are recorded live in the studio, capturing the unique energy of jazz musicians interacting and improvising on the spot.

In a review of the Randy Simon Jazz Project on allaboutjazz.com, Alexander Stern said that the album Awakening "...not only features outstanding performances by the cream of New York's Capital Region jazz scene, but also well-written, memorable tunes that make this album an exciting listening experience."
