Rebel-D was founded on June of 2005 in New York City, when two young Dominican men joined together to create a new merengue group. They didn’t want to make this just any merengue group, they decided to put their own flavor and ideas to the test. They decided to use their upbringing to see if they can change the perception and direction of where merengue was going. So they decided to use a mixture of Hip Hop and R&B with the merengue sounds that come from there native country of the Dominican Republic. But they felt they needed a little more so they decided to sing in English. They feel by singing in English that they can share their music with a larger crowd and also bring there music to the young people of there generation what they have been longing and looking for, something hip and more to there taste. To see what people thought of there music they leaked 2 songs as there first singles on the internet on different Latin websites. There music was more than new and fresh it was very catchy. "What’s good" there first single, sung by Lennis “El Monstro” Gomez, was received with a lot of good praises because of its classic beat and its catchy chorus. “In the club” there next single, was the fast paced song that showed more of there Hip Hop roots because of how Emilio “Power” Alcantara’s rapping ability on a merengue track. .... After a couple of months the 2 members of Rebel-D decided to finally add a new member to their group. They believed they needed that sexy swagger and baby face member with a voice that could only be heard in the heavens. So they added a childhood friend Stanley “S Smooth” Hildalgo to the group. He worked with Lennis in a previous project years ago, where Lennis created a merengue group for kids called Los Pitufos. So Stanley has the experience and talent needed for the types of projects that Lennis and Emilio have plans for. .... In Live performances this group brings to you an experience like no other. Blending their repertoire with fast and slow merengues, dancers, high energy dance moves, and a lot of other surprises. So there shows are always completely different. If you are a fan of Hip Hop, R&B, Merengue or just a music fan you have to give these guys a try. They tend to give your taste buds what they need and desire. .... Rebel-D’s next single, called “In and Out” is the song the members from Rebel-D feel will help them rise to the level they aspire to reach. It’s a fast paced song that has the edginess, swagger and catchy rhythm to take them there. Watch out for these guys because they are about to take over your radio waves soon and taking no prisoners.
