Red

Biography

red is a musical effort revolving around a core of Andy Schlee and Bob Kimmel. Songs are written, performed and recorded by the core who then decide if they are pleased with the result. If the music is deemed worthy, it is introduced to a larger group of musical acquaintances for expansion and interpretation.
This process has resulted in two albums: 2002’s “Nothing Means Anything” and in 2012, “Broken Earth”. Featured players, in addition to the core of Andy Schlee and Bob Kimmel include: Patty Balbo, Rich Kurtz, Danny Eyer, Tom Hensler, Dave Maerz, Andy Lalasis & Patric Schlee.

From deep in the bog iron, cedar water, sugar sand, matchstick timberlands of Jersey comes red. Intent on the entire planet whistling their inscrutable melodies, they will stop at nothing except, perhaps, a cold micro-brewski until they achieve their nefarious goal.

Their Influences are many and varied. From K-Mart to Mozart, Beatles to bagels, Eno to you know, these influences combine to make a truly delicious and spicy blend. red are intent upon crafting real world lyrics over happy and hummable melodies, resulting in instant mass confusion. Through a process found in an obscure Bulgarian sex manual, red’s melodies have been scientifically formulated to bypass the left side of your brain and attach themselves directly to your right brain, where you will have no control over the frequency of their repetition. Once you hear their beautiful and seductive melodies, it’s too late. The end is near. Soon, you too will be humming a song by red. There is nothing you can do. Good bye.

Nothing Means Anything

Modern rock that's hard and edgy and intelligent and "pop" all at the same time, kind of like Stone Temple Pilots meets the Beatles by way of Nirvana with some help from Tears For Fears and Todd Rundgren.
