Music

RedHeat (Greg Tuby) is an independent artist who creates music for fun. Genres range from orchestral to electronic dance to "8-bit" computer chip music, as well as tongue-in-cheek comedy skits.

Background

Greg grew up in the central England town of Solihull where he began composing music during his tender years on the Amiga platform. This later expanded into synthesizer composition after he moved to live in The Netherlands.

Today Greg lives near the city of Breda in the southern part of the Netherlands where he still composes, although due to personal circumstance his studio has been transformed from high-tech synths, racks and workstations to a more modest computer-based solution - as a knock on effect of that, his output is not as high as it used to be.

Genres

Greg is a big fan of the early output of Mike Oldfield, and as such the influences shine through very clearly in tracks such as Discovery and The Escape from Marwinia. Greg has always had a fascination with combining electronic and orchestral elements in his music and there are many more examples of this in his catalog.

With a background stemming from the time of the Commodore C64 and Amiga, Greg has returned a few times to that platform and created quite a few chip compositions - these are composed on the original hardware, together with it's hardware limitations. His continued interest in the oldschool platforms like the Amiga has lead him on to become a major supporter of the demoscene by means of participation and the continued work of the http://modarchive.org website. The chiptune releases and demoscene-related output is released under the handle 'm0d' (m zero d).
