This group of young central coast musicians puts together a surprisingly mature sound that draws from Django Reinhardt,' 30s European jazz and American roots traditions. Molly Reeves (National Resophonic guitar, vocals), Mitch Houseman ( upright lowdown bass ), Sam Boorman (Django guitar), Ken Davis (drums & percussion), Pamela Scheffler (Grappelli violin), and Justin Au (swing trumpet) deliver fun, hot, roumpus jazz with a twist.
This ensemble has recently performed at venues such as; the Live Oak Music Festival, Pismo Jazz Jubilee, Morro Bay’s Harbor Festival, and Big Sur’s Jade Festival. They recently opened for Portland’s own “3 leg Torso”. The RedSkunk Jipzee Swing Band received the highest overall scores at the Sacramento youth band festival this year. These talented players are fresh, spontaneous, spunky and exceedingly entertaining. With two CD’s already available this band is rapidly cutting a wide path to success. You can say you saw them way back when.
