Rhys Miller

Reviews for "moments"
As of this writing, Rhys Miller is best known in Ohio and Atlanta since that is where he has most frequently performed. But the smooth-toned singer will certainly be attracting a national audience soon with the release of his debut recording. His voice is both strong and inviting. It is difficult not to be impressed with not only the power that he shows during his entrance on “A Day In The Life Of A Fool” (which is worthy of Will Downing) but the warmth that he displays and the understanding that he gives the lyrics.
On Moments, which features Rhys’ memorable singing on five selections, he is accompanied tastefully by a rhythm section that includes pianist Jackie Warren, bassist Clayton Wright, drummer Ron Godale and a few guests. Rhys’ long tones on “Sometimes I Wonder Why” really convey the meaning of Mack David’s lyrics, he gives a fresh take to Michael Franks’ “Tell Me About It,” and he introduces his own emotional original “The Hours.” A special highpoint is his version of Chick Corea’s “ Spain ,” hinting at Al Jarreau’s famous rendition while making the song sound fresh and new.
With the current shortage of young male jazz vocalists, the arrival of Rhys Miller on the scene is a very welcome event. A versatile singer who ranges from swinging to soulful and bluesy (and sometimes all three at once), he clearly has a great future ahead of him. Moments is an important step forward for Rhys Miller.

Scott Yanow, Author of ten jazz books including The Jazz Singers, Trumpet Kings, Swing, Jazz On Film and Jazz On Record 1917-76

"Rhys Miller's sound is warm and inviting and will surely put you at ease."
Don Perry - North Coast Voice

Rhys Miller is a fresh and exciting performer on the current musical landscape. With a voice that takes the "quiet storm" into a new era, Rhys makes old standards new again with his at once classic and modern sound.

Rhys began his career by playing clubs in Northern Ohio; he then branched out to explore the Atlanta music scene, where his soulful and smooth performances thrilled audiences around the region. In Atlanta, he played a number of venues including the Variety Playhouse, where he opened for such acts as Regina Belle and Pieces of a Dream as well as working with such acts as Maysa Leak, Roy Ayers, Will Downing, Jeffrey Osborne and Eric Benet.

Continuing his work in Northeast Ohio, Rhys played a command performance for the Mayor of Cleveland at City Hall, and many other venues including the famed Nighttown Restaurant
(recently named one of the Top 100 Jazz clubs by Downbeat Magazine), Playhouse Square Center, The Cleveland Play House, The Second City Cleveland and the Museum of Contemporary Art. He has also worked with local and nationally known favorites such as Dominick Farinacci, Jackie Warren, and Sammy DeLeon y su Orquesta. As well as, International musicians pianist David Schmoll of Amsterdam and violinist Andrea Testa of Venice, Italy. His fan base has grown to include top club owners, entertainment professionals and radio and television personalities.

Rhys offers music companies and jazz fans alike a rhythm and vibe like no other. A performer who can harmoniously shift gears from classic jazz standards to Latin jazz to Quiet Storm, Rhys Miller hits not only those notes but everything in between.
