Ric Nuek was born and raised in the Elm City area of CT, which was well known for being a hot spot for drugs, violence and crime. As he grew older his penchant for music, specifically Hip-Hop, kept him just beyond the reach of the inner city’s violent grasp. Inspired by artists such as Common Sense and Mobb Deep, Nuek at the age of 13, began writing and recording his own music.
As time passed and his local fame grew, he in 1999 founded his indie label, Get Doe Records. It was at this time that he began to learn and understand the business side of the industry from recording and distributing mixtapes featuring himself and other local artists. Ric’s lyrical prowess continued to capture the ears of the inner city as well as local radio station DJ’s. Recently he’s been featured on Hot 93.7’s “Unsigned Showdown”, Kiss 95.7’s “In Tha Cypher”, and has gotten heavy rotation from DJ Bedtyme 357 on his “Hate Money Radio” show, who also DJ’s for Remy Ma. Nuek was just listed as one of “Top 5 Unsigned Artists of The Week” on NYC’s Artist Articles website, as well as featured on Clear Channel’s new “Unsigned Artist of The Month”.
Talk of Ric Nuek’s lyrical dexterity quickly spread to the Tri-State and beyond. He’s had several fan packed performances at the legendary “Toads Place” in his hometown of New Haven, CT. Well known NYC DJ, Funk Master Flex has featured Nuek on his “Unsigned Talent DVD V” beside other well known artists such as Cam’ron, Maino, Jae Mills, and JR Writer. He has also caught the attention of Playgyrl Slim, Bonafide Hustler Entertainment’s first lady from Stockton, CA. The two collaborated on two of her mixtapes; The Networking Compilation and 2 Face and has been features on several Cost to Coast Mixtapes. Ric Nuek’s music can be heard and requested on radio stations from Augusta to LA, downloaded on iTunes, ThatCrack.com, DatPiff.com and also has one of his early releases titled “You Can’t Stop Me” listed on Billboard.com.
Ric Nuek’s persistence in the game is paying off and one thing is clear Ric is “The definition of unsigned hype” and is here to stay so be ready for the RIC NUEK MOVEMENT or get out of the way.
