Biography

Based in Oak Island, NC, Richard D'Anjolell has been writing songs and entertaining audiences since he was a child. He has a gift for telling stories and connecting with the crowd. Richard recorded with numerous producers and bands and performed at most US music conferences and conventions including CMJ, NMS, and SXSW. Eventually, he helped launch the Philadelphia Music Conference and was one of the creators of WE Festival in Wilmington, NC. His music has been used in movies, educational programs, background music in retail stores, and even as a morning radio show theme song. Richard D'Anjolell tends to write catching upbeat melodic rock with insightful lyrics and memorable themes. In the late 1980's his work with the Philadelphia based jangle rock group The Benson's was heard on radio stations in the greater Philadelphia tri-state area. Material from his work with The New Tenants and Down To One was featured on compilations and album cuts with world wide releases which paved the way for his future success. The early 1990's found Mr. D'Anjolell playing rock star in the power punk pop outfit, Almighty ShuHorN. The group had several releases that garnered substantial radio airplay and eventually wound up on MTV's 120 minutes. D'Anjolell is a BMI songwriter and was featured in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Austin. He has co-written many songs with some great songwriters he has met through these events over the years. Some things do get better with age and the most recent disc, NC 28465, finds Mr. D'Anjolell at his best.
