Richard Rose

Biography

Richard Rose, born March 14, 1917 in Benwood, West Virginia, was considered to be an "American Zen Master" by many who studied and practiced his teachings. From an early age, Rose carried within him a curiosity and drive for finding the truth in all things, beginning with his studies at the Capuchin Monastery in Butler, PA. Disillusionment with the search gave way to a cataclysmic experience at the age of 32, at which time he finally witnessed the Absolute Truth in all things. This "death" experience is described in poetic form in his book, THE ALBIGEN PAPERS. The fallout from this experience left him with an ability to directly transmit glimpses of this mystical experience to a handful of his students. Throughout his lectures and writings, you will pick up the thread of this experience as well as his totally non-dogmatic, common sense approach to Self-Inquiry. Though he has passed on from this relative existence, his written and spoken word continue to impact those curious enough to question their existence.
