A reporter once asked me, “What kind of songs do you write?” I replied, “Songs that really have meaning to me and to my fans. Songs that bring back a great memory, remind us not to take life too seriously, remind us to appreciate the ones we love, and songs that give us a chance to daydream about the future.”
My music is not just country. It’s about love, family, friends, my job, my regrets, my successes, my girl, and my dreams. It’s the things we all feel. Music’s a way for all of us to share these feelings. When I record and perform, it’s not about a musician and an audience. It’s about one great big family coming together and sharing our feelings. You may not know much about me at first but you’ll feel like we’re family by the end of the show. I have a big, crazy, family. Every one of us is creative. You can’t walk around our house without someone saying, ‘Hey, look at this, listen to this, what you think about this, etc.’ We drive each other crazy with all of our ideas and dreams. I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s perfect.
My songs write themselves. I never plan them. They just come to me. Memories of driving around with my girl when we were dating, or my boss telling me he thinks I call in to work on too many Monday mornings, are real life events that scream to be shared with the world through my songwriting.
Thank you for listening and for being part of my musical family.
