Rival The Giant is an L.A. rock band that will tease your earballs with hints of 90's post-grunge and tickle your senses with a subtle dose of rockabilly and punk. With some tasty driving riffs and dynamic musical u-turns, RTG's contagious tunes will always find a spot in your brain's playlist.
The band's roots began in October of 2006 where frequent Westwood jam sessions with Ryan Thomas (guitar & lead vocals) and Bob Dossa (drummer) eventually led to acoustic performances throughout greater Los Angeles. In 2007, the unplugged duo moved our of Bob's modest garage and joined up with silky smooth bassist Anton Cuyugan. Thier Acoustic sound quickly turned into ear-popping rock, and they temporarily dubbed themselves The Ryan Thomas Group.
In 2008, the group added savvy lead guitarist Gideon LaBarre and immediately began to propogate a bundle of new tunes. As the songs evolved, so did the band name and Rival The Giant was born.
Influenced by bands like Foo Fighters, The Killers, Green Day, and Our Lady Peace, RTG frequently play shows in and around Los Angeles county at some of the area's most famous rock venues, which include House of Blues, Cat Club, Molly Malone's, Key Club, and Viper Room.
