Biography

Robert Bogan has been active in the Austin poetry and music scene since the 1960s. Aileron Press published The Arsonist in 1984. A jazz band interpreted his poetry in a 1988 broadcast of Live Set on KUT FM (90.5); in 2002 he released a portion of that performance on his first CD, Song of the Balcones. In 2011 he released his second CD, Rugged Trumpet, in collaboration with Leah Bogan of Idiom Records.

Song of the Balcones

This story takes place in late 1831 when the Lafuente Expedition battled native Americans in the Hill Country north of San Antonio. Here is part of the legend of the lost Bowie silver mines that J. Frank Dobie called "the great epic of Texas."
