Bunky Moon is a new instrumental rock trio based in the Charlotte, NC area. The group performs unique arrangements of some popular rock classics and an assortment of original material.
Featuring some of Charlotte’s finest, most well recognized musicians, B u n k y M o o n recently completed work on a new full- length album, entitled Schtuff We Like, recorded at Old House Studio by Chris Garges. The project was mixed by rock legend Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Suzanne Vega, Let’s Active, Pavement, Wilco, Squirrel Nut Zippers) at Fidelitorium Recording in Kernersville, NC and was mastered by Scott Craggs at Old Colony Mastering in Boston, MA. Schtuff We Like will be available May 17th, 2011 on LoNote Records.
Bunky Moon’s Ron Brendle (www.ronbrendle.com) is an icon in the East-coast American jazz scene on both upright and electric bass. A North Carolina native, Ron has won numerous awards and grants from various arts organizations and both local and international entertainment publications. He has recorded or performed with Nneena Freelon, Clark Terry, Andrew Hill, Charlie Byrd, Loonis McGlohon, Frank Kimbrough, and the legendary Mose Allison (with whom he still performs occasionally), and he is currently the jazz bass instructor at Appalachian State University. Troy Conn is in demand as an outstanding electric and classical guitar player. A Charlotte native, Troy has been active in many areas of the Southeast regional music scene, performing with a wide-range of groups from pop/rock artist Jeremy Current to The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and Opera Carolina. Troy is the guitar instructor at both Providence Day School and Pfeiffer University. Chris Garges (www.chrisgarges.com) is a Charlotte native who has been recognized in many local and international publications for his work as both a drummer and as a recording engineer. He has performed and/or recorded with Don Dixon, Frank Kimbrough, Day By The River, Oteil Burbridge, Si Kahn, Sunshone Still, Chad Lawson, The Belmont Playboys, and the late, great General Johnson. He currently manages Old House Recording Studio in Gastonia, NC and tours the US with both Washington, DC-based band The Public Good and rock icon Mitch Easter .
