Biography

Toronto native “Rosanne Howell is the quintessential talent of what can only be described as the art deco era of popular music. As a student of the blues, jazz and funk she has emerged as an artist redefining her craft”, that encompasses these genres in her own take on Jazz-Funk. A veteran of the studio environment, Rosanne’s compositions and vocals, as a singer and speaker, can be heard in numerous music, film and television productions, including CBC’s “Amigo and Me” as the opening theme singer, and while a Humber music student, as a featured artist in Larry Green’s Jazzology radio show on JazzFM.

A vocalist with an eclectic taste and curiosity for music as a whole, Rosanne is also a composer, songwriter, and producer working with rap artists like Big Syke (one of Tupac Shakur’s Outlaws); DJ’s like DJ Versatile; recording engineers/producers like Peter D Hudson; pop and jazz artists like Evelyne Datl (piano/keys), Greg Donskov (drums/percussion), and Andrew Roorda (bass), who now make up her ensemble.

She has performed in many of Toronto’s clubs, and has taught music technology and vocal music. She is currently a freelance recording engineer and respectful members of the entertainment community have commended Rosanne’s music and singing, “she can transform the most common, not to mention, painful experiences into gold. And she has an innate gift of taking two seemingly opposite ideas and joining them together in a way that has everyone scratching their heads and saying, ‘of course that makes sense, but how the heck did you get there?’”
