Run Through The Desert

Biography

RUN THROUGH THE DESERT: It is on rare occasion that a group of musicians come together to create something inherently unique and genuine. With their debut of "Break the Silence" Run Through the Desert is a band that has done just that. Comprised of three individuals who are no strangers to touring and recording professionally throughout the world, the band is Yogi Lonich: Guitar/vocals (Buckcherry, the Wallflowers), Jason Sutter: Drums (Smashmouth, American Hi-Fi), Corey McCormick: Bass (Elan, Rafael Moriera/Magnetico).

Run Through the Desert was an idea originally conceived by Lonich. He had been writing songs and trying out various players in the Los Angeles area and stopped his search when he, Jason and Corey all landed the gig with rock legend, Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave) in the spring of 2007. With a shared taste for vintage rock, a foot in the future and a mutual respect for each other as musicians, the band was solidified. "Some of the songs were written individually and others were a collaborative effort. We were surprised initially on how quickly the song writing process gelled between us", says Sutter.

The record was recorded independently and produced by Lonich and partner Francois Descamps. "We worked in a few small LA studios and finished in hotel rooms, dressing rooms and even in the back of the tour bus" says Lonich. The band quickly recorded the basic tracks for “Break the Silence” before being whisked out on the road for the summer with Cornell in support of Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution tour. By the time the band returned home in the fall the album was mixed, mastered and completed. "The final songs and recording all came together so quickly. There is an excitement and freshness to the record because of that." according to McCormick.

Touring the world with Cornell for the last few years has ultimately helped strengthen the Run Through the Desert live shows. The band has played a hand full of venues in the LA area to critical acclaim and is looking forward to taking the show on the road in support of the release of “Break the Silence”. Live, the band is a force to be reckoned with. From the relentless bass playing of McCormick, to the soaring guitar playing and vocals of Lonich, and to the near chaos of Sutter's drumming, the live show is an opportunity for the listener to witness the whole of this bands live touring experience as it comes together as one. "Live, It’s kind of like Cream meets Radiohead,” adds Sutter.

“Break the Silence” is a record that weaves together a collection of songs that come together as a whole. Although there are stand out tracks, the album harkens back to the days past when a record was a cohesive listening experience from start to finish. There are nods to the many musical influences that have affected these musicians, but this record is a musical contribution that is wholly original and organic and has grown from the uniqueness of each band member’s backgrounds. "There is something for everyone on this record. Everyone seems to find something they can relate to or dig into,” says Sutter. From the Bombastic rockers of “Thrown to the Wolves” and “Blown Away”, to the pop stickiness of “Someone Else's Name” and “Long Way From Home”, to the anthem like delicacy of “Grecian Moon,” there’s truly a story to be told in each song.

It is time for Run Through The Desert to put an end to the mundane hum of the airwaves and solace of the world’s concert halls and Break the Silence.
