The Ryan Burns Trio explores the classic piano trio format, much in the lineage of greats Ahmad Jamal, Oscar Peterson, and Bill Evans.
Keyboardist Ryan Burns has released three acoustic piano trio CD’s as a composer/bandleader, most recently “Ryan Burns Trio- Live at the LAB” (Odd Bird Records 2008) with bassist Jeff Johnson and drummer Tad Britton, and "Tree-O" (Odd Bird Records 2007) w/ bassist Geoff Cooke and drummer Jose Martinez.
Burns keyboard work is also featured in award-winning jazz groups Bebop and Destruction, Thomas Marriott’s Willie Nelson Project, Matt Jorgensen +451, and others, including the trio Harrybu McCage, an electric jazz project led by drummer Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden) which performed at Tennessee’s Bonaroo Festival and elsewhere.
Burns is on faculty at University of Puget Sound and Seattle Drum School. He is also a nationally published writer, his articles being featured by All About Jazz.com and All About Jazz-Seattle.
