Ryan M. Smith was born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1989, and at the age of four moved to Parker, Colorado where he currently resides. Ryan learned to love music from a young age through his dad's guitar playing and his mom's singing. After singing in a children’s choir and taking piano lessons, Ryan enrolled in his fifth grade school band program, playing percussion. Ryan continued to play percussion through his primary education by participating in the band programs. He learned to play the drum set, and began playing with other local groups. Today, percussion is still his primary instrument.
Ryan took a year off from his education after graduating from high school in 2008 in order to explore his vocational options. This time off resulted in his decision to pursue music for his undergraduate degree. Ryan was accepted into the Metropolitan State University of Denver Music Program in 2009, and has sense received his Bachelors Degree in Music with a Concentration in Music Composition. Ryan is heavily involved in performing with a variety of musical groups playing percussion, electric guitar, and electric bass guitar. One such group is MIX which he started after releasing his solo album titled “All Mixed Out” under the artist name MIX Music. The group was formed because he wanted to play music from the album with a live band. Ryan is actively teaching private percussion lessons and is working with local music programs at public schools in a variety of ways, including teaching percussion. Ryan enjoys music composition in many forms, but writes in contemporary classical, electronic, and popular music styles for his personal composition.
