I play music, I write songs. I'm an artist and a mama. I'm a child of the 1970's, born and raised in southern Louisiana. I love to paint. I love to dance. I love to sing. My favorite color is magenta. I dig 70's hippie dresses, and KISS-style platform boots. I love music from all over the world. I love sunshine, morning glories, candles, old pickup trucks, the smell of oil paint & mineral spirits, going barefoot, long hair, sunflowers, moonflowers, clove cigarettes, digging in the dirt, strawberries, red wine, toe rings, tattoos, eagles, and dancing all night long.
My 2003 release entitled Trouble Come Knockin' is mostly Appalachian Old Time and Cajun tunes (some of which I wrote) on the Norwegian Hardanger fiddle. The fabulous musicians who played on that one with me are: Bruce Molsky, James Bryan, Mike Compton, Candace Randolph, Oscar Rice, Steve Johnson, and Alan O'Bryant.
My latest project (recorded in 2008) is called Black is the Color. Over half of it is my own songwriting and singing. More backwoods countrified Carter-Family-ish songs rather than just fiddle tunes. We grow, eh? Musically and otherwise... It's different. The incredible musicians on the new album include Candace Randolph, Robert Gateley, Mike Compton, David Long, Steve Johnson, Paul Priest, Oscar Rice, Laura Whitney, and Kurt Storey.
Check it out and if you dig down to earth acoustic Americana music, I hope you will find something you enjoy.
In Joy...
