Biography

b. August 10, 1954(2 days before Pat Metheny). Active as guitarist, bassist and keyboardist with groups in virtually all styles, mainly jazz and blues. BM in Music Composition, 1980, Peabody Conservatory of Music, Baltimore MD. Artist-in-Residence for Sangamon State Univ's "Blues in the Schools" program. Instructor in guitar, Lincoln College, 1983. Guitarist with Gina, Dean and Scoundrel, 1984-86, 7-piece showband playing hotels and casinos throughout the US and Canada. Guitarist with the Frank Trompeter Quintet, 1993-96, which played the Ashikaga Jazz Festival in Japan in 1995. Active with own groups since that time: The Sam Crain Quartet(1998-2006), which performed at the Washington St Jazz Festival in 2004; The Sam Crain Trio(2006-present). Appeared as guitarist on the first CD by Senses(Looking for your Face) in 2007.
